Tagliani Continues Pole Streak in Texas

Alex Tagliani backed up his recent Indianapolis 500 pole by posting the fastest qualifying speed Friday afternoon at Texas Motor Speedway, securing his second consecutive IZOD IndyCar Series pole in preparation for Saturday night’s Firestone Twin 275s.

Tagliani just edged defending series champion Dario Franchitti, earning the right to start from the pole in the first of two 114-lap races to be run Saturday night on the high speed, 1.5-mile TMS oval. The grid for the second 114-lap race will be set by blind draw at the conclusion of the opening heat. Live television coverage of the unique, two-race event will be on VERSUS, starting at 8 p.m. EDT.
