Tokyo, February 15, 2001 -
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced the release of the GX100 general purpose
engine, a newly developed 3-horsepower 4-stroke OHC engine ideal for powering
a wide range of construction and other work equipment, including cement
mixers, power rammers, and portable generators. The new GX100 will go on
sale on February 16, 2001 at Honda Power Products dealers nationwide, and
will also be supplied to OEM manufacturers in various industries.
The GX100 engine uses a unique Honda side-cam OHC layout to offer the high
reliability, high durability, and light weight demanded by many types of
work equipment, while also ensuring clean-running performance that clears
the world's strictest emissions regulations, including the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency's Phase 2 regulations. It also comes equipped with Honda's
unique built-in timing belt and a large-capacity muffler that combine to
reduce engine noise to ultra-low levels for more user-friendly operation.
The GX100 also features a vertical cylinder and an OHC layout with balanced
left-right positioning of auxiliary components to minimize center-of-gravity
offset, making it an ideal powerplant for earth rammers and other types
of equipment requiring a stable operating position.
